Have you recently started your blog? Congratulations! Not only is blogging fun, and a great way to connect with people from around the world, but you’ll be able to use it for a variety of different purposes. People have launched freelance writing careers, become influencers, and incorporated advertising to make their blogs their main sources of income.

In order to get your blog read, you need to learn to #SEOYourBlog. This is easier than it might sound, and I’m going to teach you some of the top ways I’ve incorporated SEO on my own blog.

Ready? Let’s get started.

Link internally

You’ve probably noticed that many of my blog posts link to other blog posts. This is for two reasons. First, it helps readers to find more information related to the information they’re already reading. If I have the answers they need, why would I send them somewhere else or risk them clicking back to Google?

Another key reason is for SEO. By linking internally, you make it easier for the Google bots to ‘crawl’ your website. This means that it can easily see how many pages your website has, and where those pages should rank.

Consider PPC

PPC stands for Pay-Per-Click. It’s a form of advertising that helps your blog get exposure- so you can gain more loyal followers and readers. There are a number of great services like Click Consult who can help you navigate PPC, since it can be difficult and expensive to do by yourself if you’re inexperienced.

Use Keywords

Keywords are the search terms your target reader will be typing into Google. Ideally, you’ll want to do your research before you decide which topics you’ll write about. That way, you’ll know exactly what your target audience is searching for. Look for keywords that have a lot of people searching them, but low competion. Then, incorporate them naturally within your blog posts.

Google has changed its algorithm, meaning it’s able to determine which keywords are close or related to your main keyword. That means that you should also choose synonyms and similar search terms. Sprinkle these within your post, but make sure they’re natural- otherwise you’ll be pinged by Google and you’ll annoy your readers.

As you can SEO doesn’t need to be difficult. But it should be a key part of your blogging strategy. By incorporating the above tactics, you’ll be able to attract more readers to your blog in 2019.
