Standing mats look interchangeable. A rectangle of dark foam, a price, a photograph of somebody looking pleased in an office.

On hard flooring, the question is whether the mat stays put. A textured or grippy underside matters, and a mat that slides is worse than no mat at all.

On carpet, especially anything with padding beneath, the calculation shifts substantially.
