I used to just wear whatever was there.

Like, genuinely no thought behind it. If it was clean and easy to grab, that was enough. Most mornings feel a bit rushed anyway, so I wasn’t about to stand there putting outfits together. I’d just put something on and move on with my day.

But recently I’ve started noticing something, and now it’s one of those things I can’t really ignore anymore.

On the days where I actually like what I’m wearing, I just feel a bit better. Not in a big, obvious way. Nothing dramatic. I just feel a bit more like myself, I guess.

Those slightly off days

You know when you wake up and everything is technically fine, but you’re just not really feeling it?

I used to always assume I was just tired, or maybe a bit overwhelmed. Which is fair most of the time.

But sometimes, it’s honestly something really small. Like I’ve just put on something that doesn’t feel quite right.

Not bad enough to go and change, but not good either. Just kind of… there.

Too loose in a weird way, or just a bit plain, or one of those outfits that makes you feel like you didn’t even try. And it sounds silly when you say it out loud, but it kind of follows you through the day.

I haven’t suddenly become “put together.”

That’s definitely not what this is.

I’m still not planning outfits or thinking ahead or anything like that. I don’t have the time, and I know I wouldn’t stick to it anyway.

But I have started noticing what I actually reach for without thinking.

If something feels off, I just don’t wear it anymore. It stays in the drawer.

Lately I’ve been picking up things like baby tees a lot more, mostly because they’re just easy. They fit properly, they’re comfortable, and I don’t have to mess around with them all day.

That’s kind of the standard now. If it’s not easy, I’m probably not wearing it.

When it feels right, you forget about it

I think that’s the biggest thing I’ve noticed.

If something isn’t quite right, you’re aware of it all day. You’re pulling at it, or thinking you should’ve changed, or just feeling a bit off without really knowing why.

But when something is right, you don’t think about it at all.

It’s just one less thing in your head, which I didn’t realise I needed, but apparently I do.

Some days, I still just throw something on

Most days, actually.

But every now and then I’ll wear something a bit different, like a y2k jersey, just to not feel exactly the same as every other day.

It’s still easy. It just feels a bit less repetitive, which helps more than I expected.

It’s a small thing, but it changes the day a bit

I think I used to assume if I felt off, it had to be something big. Like I needed to fix my routine or reset everything.

But sometimes it’s just little things like this.

Wearing something you actually like. Feeling comfortable. Not overthinking it, but also not completely ignoring it either.

It doesn’t suddenly make everything perfect.

But it does make the day feel a bit easier to get through. And lately, that’s been enough.
