Most days, I don’t think about what I’m wearing.
I’ll just grab whatever’s clean, put it on, and get on with everything else. There’s usually too much going on to stand there deciding what works together. As long as it’s comfortable, that’s kind of enough.
But I’ve noticed something recently.
Every now and then, I’ll put something on and it just feels better. Not in a big way, nothing dramatic. I just feel a bit more like myself in it.
And it’s one of those small things you don’t really notice at first, but once you do, it’s hard to ignore.
When something’s just a bit off
You know when you put something on and it’s not wrong, but it’s not quite right either?
I used to ignore that and just carry on. But then I’d spend the day slightly aware of it. Pulling at it, adjusting it, or just thinking I should’ve picked something else.
It’s not enough to go and change, but it’s enough to be a bit annoying in the background.
And on busy days, that kind of thing feels bigger than it should.
I still keep it really simple
I haven’t suddenly started planning outfits or anything like that.
If something takes too much effort, I’m just not going to wear it. That part hasn’t changed.
But I have started noticing what I actually reach for without thinking. The things I wear over and over are usually the ones that just work. No adjusting, no second-guessing.
Lately, that’s been things like dark humor shirts. They’re easy, comfortable, and just feel a bit less plain than everything else.
I don’t have to think about it. I just put one on and move on.
When it feels right, you don’t notice it
I think that’s the main difference.
If something feels off, it sticks with you all day. But when it feels right, you don’t think about it at all.
It’s just one less thing taking up space in your head, which I didn’t realise mattered as much as it does.
Sometimes I just want something different
Most days are the same kind of routine, so I think that plays into it as well.
Every now and then, I’ll wear something a bit different, just so it doesn’t feel like the same outfit on repeat.
Nothing over the top. Just something like a vintage gaming mesh jersey. It’s still easy, just not as repetitive.
It’s not a big thing, but it helps
I don’t think this is something you need to overthink.
It’s just clothes at the end of the day.
But I do think there’s something in wearing things that feel right. Not perfect, not styled, just comfortable and a bit more like you.
It doesn’t suddenly fix your day or anything like that.
But it does make things feel a bit easier. And most days, that’s enough.
