One of the biggest questions I’ve had recently, is how I manage to make my money while travelling. I used to do this while travelling full time, and now I tend to live in one country for a year or a year and a half and enjoy having a base.

But I learned a lot of lessons while I was travelling full time and working. Here are a few ways you can make money online while travelling:

Freelance

Do you have a skill that you could take on the road? If you’re a consultant, web designer, software developer, or have any other skills that allow you to work remotely, this could be the ideal option for you. You can offer your services on Upwork, Freelancer etc. I’m a freelance writer, and I got started before I even left home, working after work to get a few clients and then taking those clients on the road with me. While freelancing comes with lots of ups and downs, and you need to save money during the busy months to get you through the quiet months, it’s well worth it as you can build up a business from anywhere in the world.

Start an online business

If you have a product you’d like to sell, or another great idea for a business, this can be a great option. Whether it’s dropshipping, Etsy, or any other type of business, there are plenty of ways that you can use your skills and passions to create a business you’re proud of. The great thing about this option is you can also combine it with other income streams, so you can be sure that you’ll be making money even while you’re building up an online business.

Start blogging

Sure, many people say that the travel blog market is oversaturated, but the problem is that most newbies start their blogs and then give up when they don’t get enough traction. The trick is to keep going, blogging for yourself even when no one is reading what you have to say. With some patience and hard work, you can eventually get paid to travel. Sure, it’s still hard work, but the perks of this career are obvious, especially if you’re the type who is easily able to pitch different companies for comped trips and hotel stays.

Alternatively, you can earn money by placing static advertisements on your blogs sidebar or any place else really and cash out even when you sleep. There are great platforms like Get the Referral that provide pay per click ads and even pay per referral affiliate programs like BettingTop10 is one example of a site that takes advantage of various sports betting affiliate programs to make money, which means you can travel for longer and have fun while creating an income on the side.
